When we hand out merch, we want to do it with consideration – both for the environment and for you who receive it.
That's why we've chosen sustainable products that are made with the environment in mind. This means the materials are more environmentally friendly, the production is more responsible, and the quality is good enough that you'll actually want to use it – again and again.
Only take what you actually need.
We know it can be tempting to take a little extra, but the idea is that merch should have value and utility – not end up in a drawer or as waste. By only taking what you know you will use, you contribute to less waste and a more sustainable event.
Water bottle
By offering reusable bottles, we avoid unnecessary plastic bottles and paper cups that would otherwise be thrown away after a single use. The bottle can be used to keep your water cold or your coffee hot.
Notebook
This notebook is more than meets the eye. Here you can jot down notes, plant them, and actually watch your ideas blossom.
We have chosen to go for bee mix for the simple reason that bee populations around the world are declining. The reasons are many: pesticides, climate change, habitat loss and disease.
Fewer bees = fewer flowers, less food, poorer biodiversity.
Tote bag
Production takes place at Bokhari's own factory on the outskirts of Faisalabad, Pakistan, with safe and fair working conditions, healthcare and a living wage for all 450 employees. They also run the LAMS school next door, where over 1,000 children – most of them children of factory employees – receive free primary education.
Bokhari uses only certified recycled cotton and other natural materials, and actively works to reduce its environmental impact and to improve the social and economic conditions of its employees and their families. The factory is powered by renewable solar energy, and strict requirements are placed on both ethics and transparency throughout the entire value chain.
Speaker gifts
Usually we give a gift as a thank you for the collaboration, but this year like last year we have chosen to donate the money to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières – MSF).
An independent, impartial and neutral medical humanitarian organization that helps people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries
