ABOUT THE SECURITY FESTIVAL
WHAT IS THE SECURITY FESTIVAL?
The Security Festival is an arena for the exchange of experiences. It was organized for the first time in 2019. Our ambition is for this to become Norway's largest and most important security event, and a unifying arena for everyone with an interest or responsibility for cyber, ICT, personal data and information security.
The Security Festival is a collaborative event between a number of businesses and organizations working with security in Norway. The initiator is the Norwegian Information Security Forum (ISF), which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019.
WHEN AND WHERE IS THE SECURITY FESTIVAL HELD?
The Security Festival 2025 will be held August 25 – 27, 2025 in Lillehammer.
WHO ORGANIZES THE SECURITY FESTIVAL?
The main organizer of the Security Festival is the Norwegian Information Security Forum (ISF). Our partners include Lillehammer Municipality, NTNU, the Norwegian Computer Association, NITO, Cloud Security Alliance, ISACA, the Directorate for Digitalization, the Association for Municipal Information Security (KiNS), the University of Oslo, OWASP, the Brønnøysund Registers, the Norwegian Cybersecurity Cluster, Women in Cybersecurity (WiCys), the Directorate of Health and the Norwegian Data Protection Authority. We also have Equinor as a supporter.
SECURITY FESTIVAL AND SUSTAINABILITY
The Security Festival is held in Lillehammer, a destination that invites the use of trains for the majority of participants. During the event, participants will need to travel between different event locations in Lillehammer, but these are all within walking distance of each other.
The festival organizers use a variety of suppliers and partners to be able to carry out such a large event. We prefer to choose local suppliers and partners to reduce the need for transportation, and we talk to our suppliers about sustainability. We ask them to choose good solutions to avoid unnecessary packaging, use climate and environmentally friendly materials, prefer local ingredients for food, and take steps to reduce food waste.
The conference has reduced paper and printed materials to only what is absolutely necessary, and reduced the number of less useful or short-lived giveaways to participants. Gifts for speakers are selected based on principles of local production and durability. Promotional items for the festival are selected and created based on principles of durability and reuse at future events.
Like other conferences, the Security Festival also depends on sponsors to get a good financial model and attractive prices for participants. We take our thoughts and principles around sustainability with us in our discussions with sponsors, where we ask them to adapt their activities to the festival's profile.
